Understanding Asset Metadata

Learn what metadata is extracted automatically, how accession IDs work, and how to use metadata for search and filtering.

01

Automatic metadata extraction

When an asset is ingested, Framehouse Hub automatically extracts EXIF and IPTC metadata — including camera model, lens, aperture, ISO, and GPS coordinates where available. This happens during the processing step and requires no manual input.

02

Accession IDs

Every asset receives a unique accession ID on ingestion — a permanent reference that never changes even if you rename the file. This is the canonical identifier for your asset across exports, portfolios, and integrations.

03

Searching and filtering by metadata

Use the Library search bar to find assets by title, filename, camera model, lens, or shoot name. The search index is full-text and very fast — try searching for a camera model like "Sony A7" or a shoot name like "Campaign 2025" to see all matching assets instantly.
